Joining Williams Sim Racing in 2023 was proof to myself that hard work does pay off in the long run. Having started my own sim racing team from my basement at 15 years old, to working for a Formula 1 team helping to shape the future of their Esports program, I could finally say to the doubters that video games got me somewhere.
From his opportunity I also had the privilege to attend five in-person sim events, including the 2023 Sim Expo in Dortmund Germany, the 2023 SRO Sim Pro LAN in Barcelona Spain, and the 2023 DreamHack event in Jönköping Sweden. Alongside this, we won the 2024 eNASCAR CocaCola iRacing Series Teams and Driver's championships, worth $125,000 USD.
As a Business Development Consultant for Racing Prodigy, I have the unique opportunity to combine my love of sim racing and real world motorsports into one job. I attended 4 events to observe the inner workings of a motorsports series from the ground up, and meet many of the people I have had the privilege to work with in my sim racing teams. The best part about this job is that it is pushing for real change in motorsports, working towards making success dictated by someone's skill instead of how big a wallet they have to work with.
Gaining experience in Marketing, community building and engagement, and working in a fast-pace start-up environment, it has so far been a learning rollercoaster which I thoroughly enjoy.
This is where my entire journey within sim racing/esports began, and where I quickly realized that my skillset favored that of a managerial position instead of trying to become a professional driver.
I joined Visceral when I was 15 as a Forza Motorsport racer, and from there earned the trust of the management to get promoted to the Forza Division Manager. I continued to prove my value and work my way up to Co-Owner. Still chasing more of a challenge, I set off to start my own team (Volante Racing below), but the journey with Visceral was not over.
In 2022 I merged my team back into the Visceral family to push for further growth and challenge the top of the sim racing esports scene. The team continues to exist to this day, competing against the best of the best.
One thing about me is that I will always strive to be the best I can, and that is how I ended up starting Volante Racing in 2018.
Together with my friend Karsten van Eijck (who I had never met in person), we founded Volante Racing, a team with huge ambitions, and the desire to dominate. As we continued to work and grow the team, we faced many challenges, including rebrands, sponsorship, and even a threat of a lawsuit.
Through every challenge we put our heart into the project and came out better on the other side. Building Volante Racing to what it became is something that I am truly proud of.
We brought in sponsorship from Asetek SimSports, TheLastCoat, Drive4IBD, SimRacingLoft, and TheF1Life to keep the team progressing forwards.
In 2022, I chose to merge the team with Visceral Esports to increase our assets and provide a stronger future for both outlets moving forwards.
